The day starts and concludes at the Centre.
About:
Get ready to head off the beaten track. The Mountain Day is your chance to summit one of the Brecon Beacons’ standout peaks—usually in the central range, unless the weather leads us to explore a different corner of the hills. We take the quieter, less trodden paths, exploring varied and interesting terrain. It’s a full day out in the hills—fresh air, big skies, and the kind of adventure that sticks with you.
Equipment:
We provide all the specialist equipment you’ll need for the day—including sturdy walking boots, waterproof jackets and trousers, and comfortable rucksacks.
What to Wear:
The weather can change fast in the hills, so layering up is key. To stay comfortable and safe on the mountain, here’s what to wear:
- Long trousers like leggings or joggers—no shorts, even in warm weather
- Three top layers—think t-shirt, sports top, fleece or hoodie
What to Bring:
- A packed lunch, snacks and a drink
- If it’s warm: bring a sun hat, sunglasses, and sun cream
- If it’s cool: pack a warm hat and gloves
